Queen's Golden Gaels FootballFormer Gael Crawford Signs Extension with Argos Mississauga, Ont. (January 9, 2008) - Former Queen's University Golden Gael, Bryan Crawford has signed a contract extension with the CFL's Toronto Argonauts which will see him a part of the Double Blue through 2010. In just his third CFL season Crawford was recognized by his Argo teammates as a special teams co-captain for his hard work and intelligent play. He has developed into one of the preeminent special teams players in the league as evidenced by his team-leading 27 tackles - good enough for second in the CFL. In 2007 Crawford was one of just four players on the Argos' offence to play every game. "I'm excited to continue as an Argonaut for the next few years," said Crawford. "The Argonauts are a fantastic organization to play for and I truly appreciate the opportunities that the coaching staff has given me. It has been an honour to be part of such an outstanding special teams unit and I look forward to working with my teammates in our quest to bring a championship back to Toronto in the very near future." Crawford played four seasons in a Gaels uniform and his final year was the 2004-05 campaign. He graduated in the spring of 2005 with a degree in Political Science and shortly thereafter was drafted by the Argos. He holds the Gaels' season record for most punt return yards gained in a season (448 in 2002) and ranks second in most kickoff return yards in a season with 999. In his time with the Gaels he amassed 3,599 all-purpose yards which ranks him third all-time in a Gaels uniform. In addition to his outstanding football career, he was a notable Track athlete representing Queen's University nationally in all four years on the varsity track team. Three other Canadian 'homegrown' athletes signed extensions with the Argos today including WR Andre Talbot, LB Ray Fontaine and SB Chad Rempel.
